Helping every Indian know, honour and celebrate the Tiranga.
We believe respect for the national flag grows naturally from understanding its story.
What is Tiranga Our Pride?
Tiranga Our Pride (tirangaourpride.online) is an independent, non-governmental educational website dedicated to India's national flag. We publish detailed, easy-to-read articles on the history of the Tiranga, the meaning of its colours and the Ashoka Chakra, the Flag Code of India, related laws and court judgments, and the traditions of Independence Day, Republic Day and the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Why we started
Every year on national days, millions of Indians display the flag with pride. Yet many people are unsure about simple questions: which way up the flag should be, whether it can stay up at night, what to do with a torn or paper flag, or why there are 24 spokes in the chakra. Information on these topics is often scattered or repeated without sources. We wanted to create one clear, reliable place where students, parents, teachers, housing societies and organisations can find answers.
Who we write for
- Students preparing projects, speeches, essays and quizzes.
- Parents and teachers looking for age-appropriate ways to explain the flag to children.
- Institutions and resident associations organising flag hoisting ceremonies.
- Every curious citizen who wants to understand and respect the national flag better.
Our approach
We write original articles based on publicly available primary sources such as the Flag Code of India published by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Constituent Assembly Debates, judgments of the Supreme Court of India and official government announcements. Where facts are debated or interpretations vary, for example the meanings attached to individual spokes of the Ashoka Chakra, we say so clearly.
Editorial principles
- Accuracy: check facts against official and reliable sources.
- Clarity: use simple language and explain unfamiliar terms.
- Respect: present the national flag and national symbols with dignity.
- Transparency: distinguish general information from official or legal advice, and correct errors promptly.
